Blue red and while enveloped addressed and stamped with carrying holiday wishes to shut ins in our community

At The Montessori Academy Edison Lakes, community is not just something we talk about. It is something our students actively build. One of the most beloved traditions in our Upper Elementary program is the Angel Card Project, a meaningful initiative that invites students to share kindness, empathy, and connection with individuals who may feel isolated during the holiday season.

Each year, our UE students receive a list of Angel Card recipients. These are people who have signed up themselves or have been nominated by others because they could use an extra bit of light. Students read a short profile about each person and write warm, friendly letters designed to brighten their day. The notes are sent directly to recipients using TMA as the return address, and every message is reviewed by teachers to ensure student safety and confidentiality.

Through this ongoing tradition, students send dozens of handwritten cards each year, spreading encouragement and warmth beyond our school walls. Occasionally, recipients write back, offering a powerful reminder of the impact of kindness. This year, Upper Elementary students shared that spirit by sending 60 cards!

This project beautifully reflects Montessori values empathy, authentic communication, purposeful work, and a deep sense of global citizenship. It reminds students that their words matter, their actions matter, and they have the power to make someone’s day a little brighter.

A special thank you to our dedicated UE teaching team Helen Muffoletto, JJ Solfronk, Taya Keeler, and Terri Foley who guide students through this project with intention and joy.

At TMA, compassion is learned through action. The Angel Card Project shows our students that kindness does not just fill mailboxes. It fills hearts.
