At the Early Childhood level (ages 3-6), each classroom is carefully balanced by age and gender. The Montessori Academy's Early Childhood three year cycle allows for exploration and development through concrete materials and hands-on learning. At TMA, each classroom allows for freedom within a highly structured environment. In the Early Childhood classrooms, there are five distinct areas that correspond to areas of academic study. Those five curricular areas are:
Practical Life: A variety of daily life activities which aid in the development of the child’s coordination, concentration, understanding of order and independence.
Sensorial: Work with these materials develops and refines the 5 senses and builds a foundation for speech, writing, and math. Each material isolates a specific quality such as color, size, or shape and focuses the child’s attention on this one characteristic, thereby teaching to sort, classify, order, and develop vocabulary to describe objects experienced in the world.
Math: A variety of Montessori materials are sequentially introduced to develop the child’s understanding of numbers, patterns, and operations, which move from a concrete exploration of quantity to an abstract understanding of numbers.
Language: Montessori materials promote a multi-sensory learning of the phonetic alphabet. Children move through a progression of materials to develop their skills in phonetics, writing, pre-reading, and reading skills.
Culture: Cultural study allows the child to explore the natural world around them and includes:

“Our girls have attended The Montessori Academy since they were 3. The strength of the community within this school is amazing. I compare notes with other parents whose children attend different schools. The teacher involvement is personal and directed to touch the uniqueness of each child. Our children's academic and social skills have developed wonderfully here... We have developed what are sure to be life long friendships at this wonderful institution."
